Clean HTML instead of Word markup

Word's own “Save as Web Page” and copy-paste produce HTML full of Office-specific markup: MsoNormal classes, inline font styles, <o:p> tags and conditional comments. It bloats pages and fights your website's styles. This Word to HTML converter keeps only the meaning of your document:

What is converted

  • Headings (Heading 1–6), paragraphs, bold, italic, underline and strikethrough.
  • Bulleted and numbered lists, including nested lists.
  • Tables, links and images (embedded as data URIs).
  • Word's fake list paragraphs from copy-paste are rebuilt as real lists.

Fonts, colors and page layout are intentionally dropped, so the content takes on your website's design. The .docx file is converted with the open-source mammoth library, entirely in your browser.

How do I convert a Word document to HTML?
Click Open .docx file (or drag the file onto the tool). The document is converted in your browser into clean HTML with headings, paragraphs, lists, links, tables and images. Copy the result or download it as an .html file.
Can I paste directly from Word?
Yes. Copy text in Word, click the paste box and press Ctrl+V (⌘+V on a Mac). The tool removes Word's extra markup — Mso classes, inline styles, <o:p> tags and empty paragraphs — and rebuilds real lists.
Are .doc files supported?
Only the modern .docx format is supported. To convert an older .doc file, open it in Word or LibreOffice and save it as .docx first.
What happens to images?
Images in a .docx file are embedded in the HTML as data URIs, so the output works on its own. For websites, you may want to save the images as separate files and replace the data URIs with normal image URLs.
Is my document uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, so confidential documents never leave your device.
