- Is this online notepad free?
- Yes. It is free to use and there is no account or signup. Open the page and start typing.
- Where are my notes saved?
- Your note is saved in your browser's local storage on this device. It is not uploaded to a server, so nobody else can see it — and it is not available on your other devices.
- Will my note still be here after I refresh or close the browser?
- Yes. The note is restored when you come back to this page in the same browser. It is removed if you click Clear, clear your browser's site data, or use a private window, which deletes storage when it is closed.
- Is there a size limit?
- Browsers usually allow a few megabytes of local storage per site, which is enough for very long notes. If a save ever fails, the notepad shows a warning so you can download your text as a TXT file.
- How are words and characters counted?
- A word is any run of characters separated by spaces, tabs or line breaks. Characters are counted as Unicode characters, so most emoji and accented letters count as one (some combined emoji, such as those with a skin tone, count as two). The count without spaces ignores all whitespace.
- Should I store passwords or private information here?
- It is better not to. Local storage is not encrypted, and anyone with access to this browser profile could open the page and read the note. Avoid using it on shared or public computers for sensitive text.
